Some general rules of thumb for the keywords;

*The keyword list may contain no more than 900 characters, some search engines will ignore longer lists.

**The keyword list is constructed by concatenating each word with a ',' to separate, i.e. "key,word,list".

*List the most important words first.

*List keywords three times at most, also when they are part of larger keywords, some search engines will ignore the word if it occurs more often.

**For example in the list "key,keyword,keywords,keychain", the word 'key' is likely to be ignored by search engines.

*Use alternative spellings or missspellings, they may not be correct but people still search for them.

*Do not list common words such as "and" and "or", they will be ignored or drown in the 5 zillion pages also using these words.

* Some search engines (eg Overture affiliated) will regard plurals of words identically to the singular form, however Google differentiates between the two (ie plugin and plugins are regarded as very different results). However Google for the most part seems to ignore Meta Keyword tags. - SyneRyder
